U K Sinha to head Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas' corporate governance centre

Leading firm today said former Sebi U K will spearhead its corporate governance centre.

The initiatives of the corporate governance centre (CGC) will include providing specialised, bespoke board advisory services, assisting companies in setting up internal governance procedures and controls, (CAM)said in a statement.

Among other initiatives are, the representation in shareholder or activist engagements engaging with Indian and international stakeholders and training of board members and senior management.

"The firm is also pleased to announce that the CAM - CGC will be led by U K (the former Sebi Chairman) as to the firm and the CAM-CGC," the firm said.

During his tenure at Sebi, several key reform measures were initiated in the capital market to include stringent disclosure norms, reforms in the mutual funds and in the primary market, introduction of new regulations for foreign portfolio investors, alternate investment funds and research analysts and merger of with the markets regulator.

On his appointment Sinha said,"Evolution of the regulatory regime concerning corporate governance was a very important aspect of my tenure at Sebi. This is a topic that I have significant interest in and I am glad to be getting another meaningful opportunity to contribute to its development".
