Iconic rock band U2 reunited to enthrall the audience with their live performance for the first time in last four years at a fund-raising event by Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn.

One of the best-selling bands of all time, U2 appeared for a surprise gig at Penn's 'Help Haiti Home', an event to support the Haiti earthquake victims, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Irish band performed a three-song set that included their earlier hits 'I Will Follow' and 'Desire' and 2004's 'Vertigo'.

The event was attended by big stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin, Julia Roberts and Danny Moder, Kevin Bacon and Michael Douglas.

Bono, vocalist and guitarist of U2, told the audience, "It's been a while since we played a hotel lounge. I think the last time was a bar mitzvah."

The event managed to raise almost USD 6 million for the J/P Haitian Relief Organisation for the people of 2010 earthquake victims of Haiti.
