UJVN seeks Haryana's help in speeding up Kisau dam project

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam today sought Haryana government's cooperation in expediting implementation of 660 mw Kisau dam multi-purpose project on Tons river in the hill state.
UJVN Chairman Subhash Kumar today met Haryana Chief Secretary V K Chaudhry and asked him to take up the matter with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, an official release here said.
Haryana along with neighbouring states like Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh is a stakeholder in the ambitious project to be built at a cost of Rs 900 crore on Tons river that flows along Uttarakhand-Himachal border.
The multi-purpose project will help western Uttar Pradesh prevent recurring floods besides doubling the power generation capacity of Kulhal, Chibro and Dhakrani hydel projects of Uttarakhand.
It will also help Haryana in irrigation purposes.
