Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will felicitate a woman police constable who single-handedly apprehended two eve-teasers in Mahanagar locality of Lucknow.
Sunita Tewari will be felicitated with the gallantry medal by the Chief Minister and would be given an additional month's salary to honour her for her bravery and courage, an official release issued here said today.
On Thursday, Tewari, while returning home, had come across three youths troubling a girl in Mahanagar. Besides promptly informing the control room and 'mahila thana' police, she single-handedly took on the culprits and overpowered them after a scuffle, leading to the arrest of two of them.
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav earlier met Tewari and congratulated her for her presence of mind and bravery.
