The Uttar Pradesh government today decided to regularise services of all daily wage, work charge and contractual employees appointed till March 31, 1996 and working till date in different departments, autonomous enterprises and corporations.
A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, an official spokesman said here.
He said that the decision would benefit around 5,000 employees and create an additional burden of around Rs 90 crore per annum, which would be borne by different enterprises and corporations of their own resources.

The spokesman, however, clarified, that a certain category like home guards, Prantiya Rakshak Dal, Shikshamitra, Kisanmitra, MNREGA, Ashabahu and anganbari would not be covered under this.
In another important decision for providing free motor or battery operated rickshaws in urban areas, the government selected Kinetic Green, which would supply them at the rate of Rs 1.37 lakh per unit.
The spokesman said that a target of distributing 27,000 motor or battery operated rickshaw has been fixed, which would involve an expenditure of around Rs 372 crore.
