UP women's panel takes note of atrocities against women

Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports about atrocities against women, including gangrape of teachers in some districts, Uttar Pradesh Commission for Women has sought reports from respective district police chiefs.

The panel collected reports from the SSPs and asked them to submit Action Taken Report, a spokeswoman of the Commission said today.

She said the Commission has taken note of incidents in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Etah, Muzaffarnagar, Mirzapur and Saharanpur.

These incidents include gangrape of a teacher by the principal of her school and rape of another teacher in Mirzapur, gangrape of a teacher in Saharanpur and killing of a woman in Muzaffarnagar.
