Upsurge in demand lifts soybean by 0.44%

Soybean prices moved up by 0.44 per cent to Rs 3,399 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators raised their bets amid uptick in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soybean for delivery in far-month October rose by Rs 15, or 0.44 per cent to Rs 3,399 per quintal with an open interest of 10,450 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in July gained Rs 11, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 3,468 per quintal in 1,25,390 lots.

Marketmen said expansion of positions by participants on the back of pick up in demand in the physical markets, mainly attributed the rise in soybean oil prices at futures trade.
