Uptick in demand lifts zinc futures by 0.24%

Zinc prices were marginally higher by 0.24 per cent to Rs 187.65 per kg in futures market today as traders created fresh positions after pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in January month edged up by 45 paise, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 187.65 per kg in business turnover of 434 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February contracts traded higher by 15 paise, or 0.08 per cent to Rs 187.70 per kg in 103 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to fresh positions created by participants due to pick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
