The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Kerala has launched probe into the alleged corruption and irregularities during the international cyber security conference organised by the state police last week.

Vigilance sleuths visited the hotel, the venue of the conference, at Kollam and collected evidence, official sources said today.

Vigilance Director and Director General of Police Jacob Thomas ordered the inquiry based on complaints of irregularities in the utilisation of funds for the meet, they said.

The two-day International Cyber Security and Policing Conference, titled 'CoCon 2016', concluded on August 20.

Besides the alleged corruption in fund usage, the opening of a beer parlour at the resort, once closed down by Excise department, during the conference days would also be looked into, they said.

Organised by the Kerala Police, 'Cocon' is an annual event conducted as part of the International Information Security Day.

The event was envisaged to enhance international partnerships among public and private professionals to prevent and combat cyber crime.
