Village defence committee member found dead in Udhampur

A village defence committee member was found dead with bullet injuries to his chest in a remote area of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said today.

Puran Singh, 48, was found with the bullet injuries near the forest in Jangal Gali area in Tikri belt, they said.

A rifle has been recovered from the spot.

The incident came to light after people in the area found the body and informed the police.

A case has been registered and the body has been sent for autopsy, police added.
