Woman abused for giving birth to baby girl; seven booked

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly harassed and assaulted by her husband and in-laws for giving birth to a baby girl here, police said today.

According to a complaint filed by the victim yesterday, she was harassed continuously between March 26-29 after she delivered a baby girl for the third time recently. She was also kept starving for days together post-delivery.

The woman from Mota Vaza Mohalla of Kesarbaugh in Maharashtra, had two daughters in the past, Police Sub- Inspector (PSI) R N Tadvi told PTI.

The woman also accused her in-laws of having taken Rs 70,000 besides her gold ornaments given to her at the time of marriage, Tadvi said.
 

A case has been registered under sections 498 A, 406, 323 of the IPC against seven family members - husband Aslam, mother-in-law Rashida, father-in law Shamshuddin Asna, sisters-in law Asna and Asma, brother-in law Aasad and uncle Kasim Abdul Ummid Momin.

However, no arrests have been made so far in the case as investigations are underway.
