Woman alleges rape by brother-in-law

A case has been registered against a man for allegedly raping his brother's wife for over a year, police said today.

The victim, in her complaint, had alleged that her brother-in-law raped her after few months of her marriage two years ago, they said.

When she reported the matter to her in-laws, she was forced to keep quiet, following which the accused abused the victim several times, police said.

After the woman got pregnant, a panchayat was called, which directed the accused to marry the victim and provide her maintenance.

However, the victim filed a complaint at Dadri police station today, after the accused failed to adhere to the Panchayat.
 

A manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused, police added.
