A 48-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her house at Karawara Manakpur village, about 20 km from here, police said today.
Bhateri Devi took the extreme step yesterday, they said.
In a complaint lodged with the police last evening, the woman's brother Rajesh Kumar alleged that his sister had been tormented by her husband, her two sons and their wives for the last about 12 months.
Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the deceased's husband Prithvi Singh Yadav (51), her elder son Pradeep Yadav (26) and his wife Meena Devi, her second son Dharmender Yadav (24) and his wife Pramila Devi.
The complainant alleged that when the situation became unbearable, Devi ended her life.
The matter is under investigation, police said.
