Woman found dead, dowry case against husband

A 28-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an apartment here and a case of dowry death has been lodged against her husband and mother-in-law.

"The deceased was married to Subhkant Rai in 2014. However, her husband and mother-in-law were not satisfied with the dowry amount and were pressuring her to bring Rs 1 lakh from her family," police said.

"For the past two months, she was living separately in an apartment in Anangpur Sector-37. Yesterday, her father was informed that she has committed suicide by hanging herself," police said.

The victim's father has alleged that it is a case of murder over dowry which has been portrayed as suicide.
 

An FIR has been lodged, police said.
