A 28-year-old newly married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan of her house here, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Aditi Sharma. She had married one Ram Mahajan, a resident of Tibba Bazar, three months ago, they said.
Aditi's brother, Amit Sharma, a resident of Julkian locality here lodged a complaint with the police that his sister's in-laws were forcing her to bring dowry and cash from her parents and used to beat her too, police said.
After being harassed, she allegedly committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling fan in her house, police said.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Aditi's husband Ram Mahajan, his younger brother Lakhan Mahajan, father Naresh Mahajan, mother Asha Rani and sisters Arti and Sarita, who were absconding.
