A married woman was killed and her mother was grievously injured when the duo were attacked by unidentified assailants at their house in Narela area of outer Delhi last night, police said today.
Police found the young woman's body lying near a tree, close to their house while her mother was found lying inside the house.
Clothes of the 22-year-old deceased were in a dishevelled condition leading to the suspicion that she was sexually assaulted. Her 42-year-old mother is in the ICU of a hospital and is said to be critical, they said.

Police, however clarified that whether the deceased was sexually assaulted will be confirmed only after the autopsy of the deceased or when the mother is fit for giving a statement.
The incident came to light around 5 am today when the victim's teenaged brother, who was sleeping along with his father and elder brother at a nearby plot, returned home and found the two women lying in a pool of blood.
Prima facie it seems that the duo was attacked with bricks, police said, adding that robbery seems to be the primary motive of the attack as a trunk kept in the house was found open and some items missing. The deceased's earrings were missing.
Police have questioned the victim's family members, her in-laws and husband after it emerged that there was some marital discord between the couple.
She had got married around four years back and was settled in Gannaur in Haryana and had come to her parent's home three days back.
"We have registered a case of murder and other relevant sections of IPC. Several teams have been formed to crack the case. We are investigating the case from all possible angles," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said.
"The victim's father worked as a caretaker of a nearby plot. All the three men were sleeping there while the deceased, her two-year-old son and the 40-year-old woman were sleeping in the house itself. The kid escaped unhurt in the incident as he was found sleeping in the same house after the incident," said a police official.
