A woman today moved the Madras High Court seeking to direct registration of a case by police against four persons, including the wife of former Union Minister M K Alagiri and her in-laws for allegedly registering the ancestral property of her husband in their name by showing him as a 'minor.'
R Rajeswari (45) submitted she had been married for 13 years and that her husband died on January 17,2014. He had 25 cents of land in Shivarakottai. When she applied for an encumbrance certificate for the property, she was shocked to see that it was sold to Dhaya Cyber Park (Pvt) Ltd, represented by its Managing Director Gandhi Alagiri, wife of the former Union Minister, on April 3, 2008 by allegedly forging documents.
Her in-laws told her that they had carried out the transaction by citing her husband as a 'minor' in the documents as he had had not agreed to sell it. They also reportedly threatened her with dire consequences if she raised any objection as some influential people were involved.
She filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police on February 3, who forwarded it to a District Crime Branch Inspector for action.
Subsequently, an inquiry was conducted with her on March 2. But no further action was taken nor an FIR registered. Hence, she moved the court.
Justice M M Sundaresh, before whom the petition came up, adjourned the matter to Monday.
