Woman, son die of snake bite in Jharkhand

A woman and her son died of snake bite at Lohri village in Palamau district, police said on Saturday.

Basanti Devi (39) and her 16-year-old son Suresh Bhuyan were sleeping when a poisonous snake bit them on Friday night, they said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Sub-divisional Magistrate N K Gupta said the administration is likely to provide compensation and extend help to the family members of the deceased by way of government schemes.
