A youth was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a Class VI girl near Dharuhera of the district, police said today.
Mukesh Kumar attempted to rape the 11-year-old girl when she was returning home at Maheshwari village from tuition on Thursday evening.
Police said Mahesh took the girl to an isolated place and tried to assault her, but failed in his attempt when the girl raised an alarm and neighbours rushed to the spot.
Police registered a case of abduction and attempt to rape against Mukesh on a complaint filed by the girl's father yesterday.
Mukesh was today produced before a local court which remanded him to 14 days' judicial custody.
