Youth electrocuted to death, villagers stage protest

A 24-year-old youth was today electrocuted to death after coming into contact with a high tension wire, following which villagers and family members from nearby Patti village staged a protest against the university here where he was working as a cook.

The incident occurred when Sunil Kumar, who was employed as a helper cook at the CSK HP Agriculture Universitywas asked to repair a telephone wire. The wire was entangled with 11 KV high tension wire that led to his electrocution, villagers alleged.

The villagers were demanding action against those who ordered the deceased to repair a wire when it was not part of his duties.
 

Palampur police have registered a case under section 326 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code and are investigating the matter.

The body has been sent to civil hospital Palampur for post mortem.
