Youth killed by elephants in Bankura

A 25-year-old youth was trampled to death by a herd of 12 elephants at Rakhadanga in Bankura district, forest officials said today.

Sukanta Adhikary was trampled to death by the elephants last night, Sonamukhi-Patrasayar Forest Ranger Subhas Sarkar said.

After the incident, the animals went into a nearby jungle, he said.

Meanwhile, local people blocked the Burdwan-Bankura road for about two hours this morning demanding compensation for the victim's family.
