Zinc gains by 0.7% on overseas cues

Improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend also helped prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures edged up by 0.66% to Rs 138 per kg amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand as speculators enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month edged up by 90 paise, or 0.66%, to Rs 138 per kg, with a business turnover of 591 lots.

The metal for delivery in January next year also rose by 80 paise, or 0.58%, to Rs 138.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 19 lots.

Marketmen said improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in base metals overseas supported the upside in zinc prices at futures trade.
