A Blast-By-Blast Chronology

January 4, 1997: Bombs explode in a Haryana Road Transport bus on Sonepat Road and a jeep-taxi in Mukundpur, leaving one dead and 11 injured.

l June 20, 1997: Two blasts take place within a few minutes of each other in the Sadar Bazar and Chandni Chowk areas. Three are injured. A third crude bomb found near the Lahori-gate is defused.

l October 10, 1997: Three bombs go off -- two in buses and one on the roadside in the Shantivan, Kauria Pul and Kingsway Camp areas. A child is killed and 16 are injured.

l October 26, 1997: Twin bomb blast in Karol Bagh market leaves one dead and 34 injured.

 

l November 30, 1997: Two more bomb blast in Chandni Chowk, killing three and injuring 58.

l January 9, 1998: A woman is killed and 55 persons injured in an explosion close to the ITO office, 50 meters from the police hqrs.

l August 31, 1998: One person dies and 17 others are hurt after a blast in the crowded Turkman Gate area.

l April 16, 1999: A powerful bomb explodes in a train at the Holambi Kalan railway station, killing two and injuring five.

l June 3, 1999: Over 27 persons are injured after an explosion near Fountain Chowk in the Chandni Chowk area of North Delhi. The explosion could have been worse had the bag with explosives in it not been taken away by a sweet shop worker minutes before the timer went off.

l January 6, 2000: Over 20 people are hurt in a medium intensity bomb blast at the Old Delhi railway station.

l February 27, 2000: Eight persons are injured in a high intensity explosion in a guesthouse in central Delhi's Paharganj area.

l March 16, 2000: A low intensity explosion in the Sadar Bazar area of North Delhi. Seven injured.
