Aitaf Condemns Delhi Govt

The All India Tax Advocates Forum (AITAF) today condemned the Delhi governments move to impose sales tax on purchases made by Nepali customers. The contents of the circular issued by the delhi sales tax commissioner are contrary to the conditions prescribed for allowing export as per the assurance given in the 1997 finance bill, the forum president m k gandhi said in a press statement here. He said no dealer would like to pay sales tax on arbitrary disallowance as the country is now facing stiff competition in the global market. The attempt by the delhi government to introduce tax on works contract would raise the cost of housing in delhi. The move would make the basic shelter costlier for the common man, he said.
