Bajaj To Unveil Eliminator In October

Bajaj Auto Ltd will be launching a 175cc street sports motorcycle _ Eliminator _ in October this year.
This "chopper-like motorcycle, which belongs to the cruiser class" would be priced around Rs 75,000. The motorcycle has been developed by Bajaj Auto in collaboration with Tokyo R&D Technology.
Madhur Bajaj, the newly-appointed Executive Director of Bajaj Auto said that in the first year of its launch the company hopes to sell only around 20,000 units of the Eliminator. The bike has a "macho" image, and was showcased at this year's Auto Expo and at the one held in 1998 in Pragati Maidan in the Capital.

Bajaj said that the company has chalked out a detailed strategy in order to push up the sales of scooters _ a segment that is fast losing out to motorcycles. "Scooters are out of fashion now and everyone is going in for only trendy motorcycles or scooterrettes," Bajaj said.
The company has been introducing scratch card schemes since December last in order to push up sales of scooters. "These schemes have borne fruit and our scooter sales have risen marginally," Bajaj said. The company will offer attractive schemes and finance options in order to generate demand for scooters.
Moreover, the company is hoping that the newly launched Saffire _ a 100cc, four stroke scooter with three-speed automatic transmission _ will turn the fortunes for the company, as far as its lagging sales in the scooter segment is concerned.
"Saffire is a very trendy scooter and we hope there will be demand for it from all over the country," Bajaj said.
