Bse Calls Meeting Of Ses To Discuss Market Crisis

The meeting comes in the wake of the sagging markets situation, depressed primary markets conditions and the series of defaults and payment problems being witnessed at some bourses.

Damani has called the meeting after some major bourses requested BSE to convene it to discuss issues of common interest.

According to sources, the opportunity may also be availed of by the stock exchanges to try and forge a stronger national alliance of stock exchanges and enable the market to speak in one voice particularly on regulatory and other issues. This is so because the earlier attempts to form a federation of Indian stock exchanges (FISE) has virtually come a cropper as BSE has stayed away from it and some exchanges had utilised the forum for BOLT-bashing.

 

With BSE agreeing this time to take the lead in convening a meeting of SE chiefs, the spotlight is once again back on the exchange with other bourses looking towards it to provide the necessary leadership.
