French classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) said last week that it will class four liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers being built by Korean shipbuilders Daewoo Heavy Industries and Hanjin Heavy Industries. The 138,000 cu m double membrane-type LNG carriers will be chartered by Korea Gas Corp (Kogas) to carry imports from Oman and Qatar. Daewoo is building two of the ships for Korea Line Corp for delivery in 1999 and 2000, while Hanjin will deliver two vessels to the group's shipping division in 1999. (BV) said it has a 35 per cent market share for classing membrane-type LNG vessels.
