Cii Plans To Turn Attention To Core Issues At District Level

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be extending its operations to the district level now, according to confederation president N Kumar.
CII had four rungs of operations till date: the national, the regional, the state and the zonal. Now the apex body of indian industries have decided to get into micro-level activities.
The main issues which CII plans to address at the district level are transport, power, telecom, land and water.

It will also provide advisory services in agriculture, fruit growing, dairy and tourism industries.
A start has already been made in the district level activities in the states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
CII is working in the areas identified above in the districts of Howrah, Midnapore, Durgapur, Hoogly and 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
The north eastern region with the seven states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram will be targetted so that their industrial production is boosted.
CII has already opened an office in Guwahati and will be drawing up an action plan soon on how to pull up these states in terms of industrial growth.
N Kumar said it is essential for the seven states in the north eastern part of the country to record industrial growth as the whole country would otherwise have to bear the burden of their industrial backwardness.
