Counters Steady

Select industrials ruled steady on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) yesterday in an otherwise dull market. these counters saw with fresh support posting moderate gains. Brokers said the market was moving in a narrow range as buyers were cautious. There was uncertainty over the outcome of coming Lok Sabha elections, they said. Moreover, the institutions continued to stay in the sidelines. The turnover was low and the undertone steady. The 50-share CSE index closed at 96.10 points, gaining 0.09 points.

In the specified list ACC closed at Rs 1,265, Tisco at Rs 122.90 and ITC at Rs 588.50. Tata Tea gained at Rs 412.60, Telco at Rs 233.80, Bajaj Auto was at Rs 509. HLL was Rs 1,414, RIL at Rs 156.70, SBI at Rs 243.30 and Bata at Rs 138.30. Among others, CESC wound up at Rs 28.85, L&T at Rs 191.70, Hindalco at Rs 611, Hind Motor at Rs 11.30, BSES at Rs 171, Balarampur Chini at Rs 91.70, LML at Rs 104.60, Indo Gulf at Rs 33.30, Castrol at Rs 655 and Colgate at Rs 240.
