Electrolux Select Fridge Models To Be Phased Out

The Swedish multinational will introduce refrigerators under the Kelvinator brand name in January 1997 with launches slated in Madras, Bangalore, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bombay, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chandigarh and Calcutta.
A similar two-brand strategy will be followed in the washing machines segment. While the futuristic Electrolux models will be imported through Maharaja International, the New Delhi-based Intron, acquired by the multinational last December, will manufacture and launch washing machines under the Kelvinator brand name.
The company will launch six refrigerator models next year out of which two will be imported and all of them will be chlorofluorocarbon-free. The domestic models each of two of double-door and two of conventional refrigerators will also be launched.
The most expensive washing matching from the Kelvinator range will carry a tag of Rs 19,000. The target is to sell 400,000 refrigerators and 20,000 washing machines by the end of 1997. Electrolux is looking at a 50 per cent market share in refrigerators by the end of 1997.
