Fokker Silent On Samsung Talks

BSCAL

The reports said two senior officials of Samsung Aerospace Industries had arrived in Amsterdam to set the seal on a takeover of Fokker which was declared bankrupt in March.

But a spokeswoman for the curators said they had nothing to add to a brief September 13 statement in which they said Samsung Aerospace had been given the exclusive right to examine Fokker's books with a view to a possible takeover bid.

Dutch news agency ANP and several newspapers named the Samsung Aerospace executives as Yu Moo-sung and Lee Dae-won, adding that they had dined with the Fokker receivers at a hotel in Amsterdam on Monday.

Samsung Aerospace's press office in Seoul declined to comment on the Dutch reports but said the two executives had been visiting neighbouring Germany on business. Fokker was declared bankrupt in March after majority shareholder DASA said it was no longer able to bear the Dutch company's huge losses.
