Itc: Ed Team Back From Singapore

BSCAL

The three-member Enforcement Directorate (ED) team returned from Singapore after recording the statements of several persons in connection with its probe into the deals by ITC Global Ltd.

The names of the persons, whose statements were recorded, could not be ascertained though sources said that these persons were not necessarily ITC Global employees. The team also visited Hong Kong in connection with the probe.

Sources said that the three-member team, comprising special director M C Joshi and deputy director K K Kabirpanthi, only had informal discussions with the Singapore authorities regarding the case. It could not be ascertained whether the contingent had managed to collect documents related to the case. The judicial managers at Singapore, who were managing the day-to-day affairs of the company, are believed to have expressed their inability to part with complete details of the ongoing case. According to Singapore laws, there should be mutual benefit when information of this nature is shared with another country.

A senior official described the two-nation trip as very successful but said that the report regarding the findings of the trip had not yet been prepared.
