Lower Power Capacity Addition In 8th Plan

Despite measures taken by the Centre to enhance power generation in the country during the post-reform era, capacity addition during the eighth plan period was significantly lower than the seventh plan achievement.

Capacity addition during the eighth plan was 17,667 mw as against 21,051 mw achieved in the seventh plan period, according to a report of the working group on power constituted by the Planning Commission.
