Marginal Fall

On the eve of settlement day, trading on the Calcutta stock exchange (CSE) yesterday featured two-way fluctuations in share prices, reflecting alternate bouts of buying and selling. The close eventually showing widespread losses. Brokers said, lower advices from Mumbai also induced some cautious offerings which failed to attract institutional buyers. The 50-share CSE index finished at 97.38 points, losing 0.92 points.
ACC finished at Rs 1,231, ITC at Rs 616, and Tisco at Rs 121.40, Tata Tea at Rs 414.60, Telco at Rs 236.80, RIL at Rs 149.90, SBI at Rs 239, HLL at Rs 1,527, Bata at Rs 144 and BSES at Rs 180.50. Among others, L&T wound up at Rs 196.90, CESC at Rs 26, ITC Bhadrachalam at Rs 26.50, LML at Rs 108.80, Hindalco at Rs 615, Hind Motor at Rs 10.85, Indo Gulf at Rs 32.20, IPCL at Rs 53.40 and MNTL at Rs 233.10. The easing trend was also seen in the non-specified list. Goodricke group was held at Rs 102, BoI at Rs 34, ITC Hotel at Rs 117.50, Mastergain at Rs 10.10 and Woolworth at Rs 21.60.
