Murdoch Keen On China Investment

Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch on Thursday expressed a strong interest in developing the digital broadcasting business in China, which he said was leap-frogging the analog era and going directly to digital technology.
China is perhaps more advanced in the application of digital technologies (in government) than many developed Western nations, Murdoch said.
Such developments have led me to become a very strong proponent of investment and engagement with this new China of the 21st Centry, he added.

Murdoch made the comments in a speech to an international conference in Tokyo on the media.
Murdoch said News Corp is interested in developing digital broadcasting technologies enabling China to deliver government information, training, education and medical services throughout the country, in addition to multi-channel television programming.
News Corp recently launched an online computer information service in China together with Chinas Peoples Daily.
Murdoch said that he has never seriously considered buying Dow Jones and Co Inc .
Asked if he was interested in buying Dow Jones, he said: No, no, no. Ive never considered that seriously.
