Nhai Signs Deal For Road Development

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), a public sector undertaking under the surface transport ministry, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD) here yesterday to spur development in the highway sector.
Both the parties will jointly identify highway projects, share expertise and bear the costs incurred in mutually agreed pre-project surveys, post project data collection and related research studies. The two organisation wlll cooperate in evolving new instruments of resource mobilisation to raise investment in the sector.
The MoU was signed between Asian Institute of Transport Deve-l opment director K L Thapar and surface transport ministrys secretary, Yogendra Narain. Asian Instit- ute of Transport Develop- ment (AITD) has been set up under the recommendation of the National Transport Policy committee.
