Niit Ties Up With Schools To Offer It Training

Shehla Raza Hasan BSCAL

NIIT has taken a new initiative to integrate its Learning through Exploration, Discovery and Adventure (LEDA) programme, into school education.

The new LEDA Integrated Development Program (LIDP) integrates learning to use computers with using computers to learn subjects like Maths, Science and English. The year-long programme gives children early exposure to computers and the Internet together with harnessing the power of technology to tackle the school curriculum from kindergarten through high school.

According to an NIIT spokesperson,

LEDA has been adopted by over 350 schools. It was launched in 1996 with the aim of making learning more effective by using interactive multimedia software designed to help children understand difficult subjects.

This concept has been enlarged and integrated with the school curriculum itself to create the comprehensive LEDA Integrated Development Programme.

LIDP's Personal Effectiveness component also ensures holistic development of the child by paying attention to non-curricular areas like communication, leadership and teamwork as well as general knowledge, creativity and analytical skills which are often neglected in the pressure of school-work.

NIIT, which pioneered information technology education 18 years ago, today trains over 200,000 students in over 1,100 centres spread across 20 countries worldwide.
