Park Royale Hotel Opens

BSCAL

However, without the lodging and the excise certificates in hand, the Australia-based Southern Pacific Hotels, which is managing the property, has yet to open the rooms for guests or serve liquor in the hotel.

Park Royale had received the completion certificate from the MCD on orders from Lt Governor PK Dave last month.

The owners, city-based real estate developers Eros Group, also received the health certificate last Saturday, and the approval to open the eating houses subsequently. The hotel has also received the

no-objection-certificate from the Delhi governments fire department.

The municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) had one month to file an appeal against the Lt Governors order, dated November 6, the deadline for which expired yesterday. According to a company source, there was no appeal filed in any court till late evening yesterday.

Park Royale New Delhi was ready to open in November 1994, but failed to receive a completion certificate from the municipal corporation of Delhi due to violations of the building by-laws.

The MCD raised 62 objections which were subsequently reduced to four after the hotel promoters carried out certain rectifications. However, the remaining violations being non-compoundable, as per the law, the MCD refused to issue an NOC. The tourism department of the Union government in March called a meeting to discuss the issue.

Later, a committee comprising MCD and DoT officials, headed by director-general Tourism, was set up. However, after the first two meetings, MCD boycotted the meetings.
