Pivotals Recoup Marginally On Institutional Support

Pivotals prices gained marginally on buying support from financial institutions and common investors on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday.
The NSE-50 index opened at 968.15, touched the days high of 980.45 points, low of 968.15 points and closed at 976.10 points, showing a net gain of 8.15 points as against its previous close of 967.95 points.

The dollar NSE-50 (Defty) index closed at 872.60 points over the last trading days close of 866.40 points, gaining 6.20 points.
However, Midcap index declined marginally by 1.90 points to 1,090.35 points as compared to the last close of 1,092.25 points. The total turnover on NSE was Rs 1,059.08 crore, involving 342.54 lakh shares. Number of trades were 1,10,986 and debenture traded value was Rs 37.82 lakh. The Indian tobacco giant, ITC registered a turnover of Rs 478.86 crore, followed by Tata Tea at Rs 103.38 crore, SBI-N at Rs 92.42 crore, Castrol Rs 67.79 crore, Reliance Industries at Rs 65.47 crore, Hind Lever at Rs 52.41 crore, Telco at Rs 33.96 crore, ACC Rs 16.25 crore, Bajaj Auto Rs 13.09 crore, MTNL Rs 12.66 crore, LML Rs 12.10 crore, Tisco Rs 7.56 crore and Glaxo Rs 7.46 crore.
Among others the scrips that registered good volumes were: L&T Rs 7.29 crore, BHEL Rs 6.31 crore, Corp Bank Rs 5.88 crore, SmithKlpha Rs 5.88 crore, ABB Rs 5.69 crore, ICICI Rs 3.28 crore, Nestle Rs 2.85 crore, EIH Rs 2.82 crore, Hindalco Rs 2.72 crore, Bank of Baroda Rs 2.27 crore, BPL Rs 2.07 crore and Digital Equip Rs 1.98 crore.
The top gainers were EIH by 3.67 per cent to Rs 299.75, BPCL by 3.4 per cent to Rs 361.9, ITC by 2.29 per cent to Rs 595.55, Bajaj Auto by 1.98 per cent to Rs 481.95 and Hind Lever by 1.93 per cent to Rs 1,422.40 per cent. Major losers were Grasim, Thermax, Arvind Mills, Glaxo and HDFC Bank. UNI
