Re Ranged, Forwards Droop A Little

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the prices of 44 formulation packs, of which the prices of three formulations have been fixed for the first time.

Prices have been revised upwards for 14 packs. The increase ranges from 3.5 per cent to 9.60 per cent in all cases except one, where the annualised increase is 50 per cent. Prices have been revised downwards for 26 packs, with the decrease ranging from 4.58 per cent to 51.48 per cent. The price of one pack has been left unchanged.

Of the 44 packs, a ceiling on prices has been fixed on two packs of Levodopa tablets, used to treat Parkinson's disease. For Levodopa 500 mg, the price of a pack of 10 Al/St has been revised to Rs 38.22 from Rs 14.62. The price of Levodopa 500 mg has been fixed for the first time at Rs 37.78 for a pack of 10 Al/Bl.

 

Non-ceiling prices have been fixed for the remaining 42 packs.

Prices have been revised upwards for a range of Deriphyllin formulations which are used to treat asthma. While the price of the Deriphyllin tablet has been left unchanged, the prices of the Deriphyllin Retard tablets, ampoule (2 ml) and syrup (100 ml bottle) have been raised between 6.5 and 10 per cent.

Prices have been revised upwards for 10 Al/St packs of Demonorm tablets (anti-fungal). Prices have been fixed for the first time for 10's Al/Bl 250 mg tablets at Rs 16.02 and for 500 mg tablets at Rs. 30.97. Prices for ledermycin capsules and tablets, used as broad spectrum antibiotics, have been revised upwards by 5.25-8.29 per cent.
