Sentiment Low

Barring a sharp rise in ACC and Reliance Industries, share prices on the Delhi Stock Exchange yesterday failed to maintain the rising trend on brisk selling by financial houses and profit takers, wiping off the initial gains and closed with small either-side changes. The DSE sensitive index settled 1.80 points higher at 867.30 points.
Reports of lower trend in upcountry markets and some selling by line operators and dampened the market sentiments. Opening on a weak note, the share prices picked up on revival of buying by foreign financial houses and speculators. However, at the fag-end, increased selling by profit takers along with bear operators pushed down the prices to close lower. In some cases, the closing was slightly higher than previous levels on selective buying by foreign institutional investors.
ACC shares were in demand. It shot up by Rs 87.90 at Rs 1321 on brisk buying by FIIs and speculators. RIL shares continued to be in bull orbit and climbed up further to settle at Rs 374.50, showing a gain of Rs 6.90.
