Stocks Stage Recovery

BSCAL

The market opened with dull note as US launched a fresh attack against Iraq. But, at the fag end of the trading session, the FIIs started purchasing blue chips.

The sensex rose to 3516.90 points against its previous close of 3484.68 points, showing a gain of 32.22 points.

In New York, US blue chip stocks pared losses and the Dow was off 4 to 5644.

Earlier, European financial markets took news of a second U.S. strike on Iraq in their stride on Wednesday, with stocks trading stronger, gold weaker, and the dollar rock steady.

The Footsie, representing 100 leading British shares, was up 17.1 points at 3,873.0. The DAX was 21.16 up at 2,532.37.
