Sukh Ram'S Kin Fail To Appear Before Cbi

Notices were served on the couple last week to appear on Monday. A fresh notice is likely to be served on them.

Anil Sharma, Suk Ram's son and Himachal Pradesh minister, was questioned by CBI officials for several hours yesterday. He arrived at CBI headquarters in Lok Nayak Bhavan at noon and continued to be interrogated till late evening.

The CBI had served notices on them in connection with the ongoing investigation into properties the former minister amassed disproportionate to his known source of income.

Officials hope the examination would give more leads to the investigations. Ritu Sharma was incidently present in Sukh Ram's official residence when CBI officials carried out the raid on August 16.

 

The CBI has sent a message to the Indian High Commission in London to communicate to Sukh Ram to leave for India by September 10.

In his message to the Indian High Commission, which he asked to be forwarded to CBI, Sukh Ram said he would not be able to come before September 15.

The former minister reportedly said he has been advised to undergo a second heart bypass operation.

If the former minister decides to prolong his stay in the UK for medical reasons, chances are that his passport might be cancelled and Interpol intervene in the matter. CBI officials, however refused to comment what steps will be taken if Sukh Ram fails to return by September 10. Officials said the former minister will be taken for questioning as soon as he arrives in the country.
