Transactions Total Rs 245.03 Crore

Prices of government securities and treasury bills showed signs of recovery at the wholesale debt market (WDM) on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday. The debt segment clocked a trading volume of Rs 245.03 crore, of which the treasury bills sector contributed trades worth Rs 59 crore.
The corporate debenture sector witnessed 326 trades for Rs 37.20 lakh. Brokers said, the day saw long-dated government loan in demand while there were net sellers for the short-dated gilts and treasury bills. The 364-day treasury bill maturing on April 10 was traded for Rs 45 crore at a weighted average yield of 11.11 per cent. The paper was traded at a high of Rs 98.04 and closed at a low of Rs 97.97. The 12.5 per cent government loan maturing in 2004 was traded for Rs 35 crore at a weighted average yield of 12.30 per cent.
The 10.82 per cent gilt maturing in 2001 and the 11 per cent gilt maturing in 2002 continued to be traded below par. The 10.82 per cent paper maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 21 crore at a low of Rs 97.85 and a high of Rs 97.90. The 11 per cent security maturing in 2002 was traded for Rs 35 crore at a low of Rs 97 and a high of Rs 97.35.
