Trident Alco-Chem

BSCAL

Trident Alco-Chem, a Trident group company, posted a turnover of Rs 11.6 crore for the year ended December, 1996, down 34.6 per cent (annualised) from Rs 13.3 crore in the previous year. The company attributes the fall in sales and profitability to a sharp dip in the prices of acetic acid which was caused by the depressed market conditions. However, aggressive marketing and better customer relations helped the company to off-load its entire production. On an annualised basis, net profit fell by 31 per cent to Rs 0.8 crore. However, during the year net profit margin improved to 6.8 per cent, up from 6.5 per cent in the previous year, thanks mainly to efficient utilisation of resources. The company has enhanced the capacity of acetic acid to meet the demand in the domestic and international markets. As a part of its diversification and forward integration, the company is setting up acetic anhydride and acetamide projects. The company has set a sales target of Rs 20.7 crore and net profit of Rs 2.9 crore. The

availability of molasses and industrial alcohol at lower prices will be another advantage.
