Truly Devalued

The RBI recently brought out a compendium of circulars issued by its department of banking operations and development (DBOD). This work was assigned to a retired F grade officer, Mr Samarth initially for six months but later, extended to one year.

In January-end, the RBI assigned to its retired executive director, J R Prabhu, the work of updating the DBOD circulars. Initially for four months. No doubt, this too will be extended. At this rate, the next issue will be brought out by a retired deputy governor, S P Talwar, perhaps.

From ex-CGM to ex-ED on to ex-DG for a publication that is attended to by a B grade officer in other departments. This is surely a devaluation in the RBI!
