Punjab Chief Minisiter Prakash Singh Badal has stated that former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee may have disassociated himself from the Anandpur Sahib resolution because of ignorance about the resolution. The statement is sure to embarrass the BJP, and accentuate the differences between the two parties.

Woh shayad padha nahi hoga pura, (He may not have read the complete resolution) Badal said in an interview to the television programme Aap ki Adalat, according to a ZEE television release yesterday. The interview is shceduled for telecast on Sunday.

Badal insisted on this when he said that it was quite possible that Vajpayee might not have read the resolution, despite his standing as a senior and responsible politician. It happens that sometimes we make comments without reading something, he explained.

Badal also stressed that the common minimum programme (CMP) between the BJP and the Akali Dal contained all the points of the resolution. Asked about Advanis statement that the alliance would not have happened had the Akalis insisted on including the resolution in the CMP, he refuted the BJP leader having made the statement..

Barnala said the BJP should have condemned Operation Bluestar. However, he disapproved the demolition of the disputed site at Ayodhya.

About the BJPs minority card he said that the Akalis had always told the BJP leaders to take care of the minorities. You have to carry them along if you have to rule the country, he added.
