Volumes Spurt To Rs 954.49 Crore

Traded volumes at the wholesale debt market of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) zoomed up yesterday to Rs 954.49 crore from Rs 393.15 crore on Monday. Corporate debentures were traded for Rs 6.49 crore.

The newly-auctioned 10.85 per cent security maturing in 2001 was traded for Rs 431 crore at a weighted average yield of 10.68 per cent.

Among other securities, the 12.14 per cent paper maturing in 2000 clocked Rs 115 crore at a weighted average yield of 10.28 per cent, while the 12.59 per cent gilt maturing in 2004 was traded for Rs 145 crore at an yield of 11.43 per cent.

 

There was a marginal hardening in the yields across the board, as the call rates shot up to rule in the band of 7.50 per cent to 8.25 per cent after the outflow of Rs 5,000 crore.

In the corporate debentures segment, the zero per cent Reliance Capital Ltd 2002 mopped up a Rs 1.23-crore turnover, while bulk of the trades was accounted for by the 14 per cent Reliance 2000, which was traded for a sum of Rs 5.10 crore at an yield of 13.55 per cent. The certificate of deposit issued by ICICI maturing on October 8 was traded at 7.40 per cent.
