eSys Tech to invest Rs 250 cr in Baddi unit

Press Trust Of India New Delhi
IT distribution major and PC maker eSys Technologies, a subsidiary of Teledata, will invest Rs 250 crore to set up a computer manufacturing unit at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, to be operational this year.

"The annual installed capacity of the plant at Baddi would be 12 lakh units and it would provide employment to about 300-400 people in the region," eSys Chairman and Group Managing Director Vikas Goel told reporters here.

Teledata had acquired eSys for a consideration of 105 million dollars earlier. Singapore-headquartered eSys has manufacturing units at Singapore, UAE and the US.

Facilities like R&D, product reliability engineering, incoming quality control, logistics and MIS would be part of the plant, Goel said. Teledata has earmarked an investment of 210 million dollars to acquire mid-sized firms over the next 18 months.

"Teledata would be acquiring global as well as domestic firms in the range of 10-15 million dollars over the next 18 months," Goel said, we are looking to integrate the entire business under one umbrella in as much time," Goel said adding that talks for acquisition are on with 4-6 companies, of which 2-3 are Indian.

Currently India contributes 15-17 per cent of eSys' revenues and the company is looking to increase this share to 20-25 per cent in the next two years, Goel added.
