Information technology education firm, UPTEC, has formed a joint venture with the China-based Inspur group for setting up a training centre in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong.
UPTEC is promoted by UP Electronics Corporation Limited and has more than 10 training centres across the state.
“China faces a severe shortage of skilled IT professionals. The Chinese government has eased the policies to attract foreign institutes to educate its citizens, which led us to open the centre there,” said UPTEC managing director Upendra Kumar.
The 50:50 joint venture will have representatives from both the companies on board. Besides, the chairman and the chief technical officer will be from UPTEC.
The Inspur group, which registered a turnover of US $2.9 billion last fiscal, will look after the management part, while UPTEC will take care of the technical aspects.
Kumar said the JV was planning to set up its next centre in Beijing, the capital city of China. The company is looking at covering 10 cities in a year with a business of more than Rs 50 crore in about three years.
